Kate Woods is a photojournalist and documentary filmmaker based in Washington D.C. She received her master's degree in New Media Photojournalism from the Corcoran School of Arts & Design in May 2023.
Kate has a passion for stories that revolve around agriculture, history and civil rights. She currently works as a multimedia producer at the Institute for Justice, a nonprofit civil liberties law firm.
Her photos have been published in outlets such as The New York Times,The Washington Post, NBC News, and more. Her most recent documentary short, The Hoof Trimmer, follows animal welfare on dairy farms and showed at multiple film festivals.
In October 2022, Kate was a student of the 35th Eddie Adams Workshop. From 2023-2025 she served as co-chair of the Meetings Committee for Women Photojournalists of Washington (WPOW).
Kate is available for freelance photo and video assignments. She is a FAA certified and licensed commercial drone pilot.
